IT'S WITH GREAT EXCITEMENT WE SHARE WITH YOU....

CAMP ALDERSGATE'S NEW CABINS!!!

THE WHY

With the 300% growth at Camp Aldersgate over the past 11 years, we have used each cabin to capacity every week of summer the past few summers.  We are thrilled to have so many people seeking a life-transforming experience with God.  To accomodate as many campers and guests as we can, we have added weeks onto our summer camp schedule. All this combined extra usage in our cabins has stretched them beyond their design and usefullness.  The first phase of the plan is to replace Cabin 3 and Cabin 4.  Phase two will include two new cabins in a new area of camp which will allow us to retire the dorm.  These new cabins will give us more capacity during our retreat ministry season, as the new cabins are more attractive to retreat guests.  And, that's great news considering we are seeing growth in that part of our ministry.  Here is just one letter of thousands telling the story of WHY we do camp.

A LETTER FROM A CAMPER

Matthew, a first time camper in 2010.

When I was younger my experience with the church and my understanding of God pushed me away from a relationship with God. I did not really want anything to do with God after what my family had gone through and how we were treated by the people at our past church.

Then Jessica invited me to camp, it sounded fun and I knew some people that were going. I did not realize then that it would be a week that would totally change my life. At camp there were all these different people that got along and supported each other. I just knew that I would always have someone to count on. I felt the love of Christ through other people and then lessons and experiences of the week.

Since camp I am a different person, I am a glass half-full person instead of a half-empty person. Now I count my blessings instead of cursing what I don’t have. Camp was the best experience of my life so far.”

THE WHAT

This is a picture very similar to our new cabin design...the windows and roof are a bit different, but the general look is the same.

THE HOW

These new cabins arrive as a "kit".  Each log cabin is built basically as a giant "Lincoln Log Set".  We already have one church lined up with volunteers to build the first cabin the week of June 19th.

A BIG THANKS TO MAYFIELD UNITED METHODIST CHURCH FOR RAISING THE MONEY FOR THE FIRST CABIN!!!!

The cost of each cabin can be seen on this simple breakdown....(click on image to enlarge)
