Siding is up!!

Wanted to share some pictures of the house after siding.  We wrapped up rough electrical this week and the insulation we wanted to add that's not included in the contract with Wayne Homes.

Rough Machenical Week

It's been a busy week up at Hilltop House.  We've had the septic, water, electric, above grade horizon, rough yard grading, and concrete all go in!!!!!  Things are moving along well.  Deadlines are coming together, and all the people that have been working have been great.  Here are come pictures of what's been going on, enjoy!!

A word from the Chair of the Building Committee

It's so exciting to see a dream come true! A few years ago, Church of the Lakes participated in the 40 Days of CommUNITY Program. Each small group was to select a mission project. One of our groups decided to raise money towards the building of a director's residence at Camp Aldersgate. The congregation gave generously, and combined with a donation from our Lil' Lambs ministry, raised enough for a downpayment for this project. Others in the Conference also gave donations. And thanks to a hard working subcommittee from the Board of Camp and Retreat Ministries, the house is being built! We can't wait to see the finished home. Thanks be to God and all God's faithful people!

Janet Zimmerman

Janet serves on the Board of Camps and Retreat Ministries and served as the Chair of the building committee for the new Director's Residence.  As staff we appreciate the work she and the other members put into this project.

Roofing Underway

Went up to the house today with Gary, Bill, and Julie and found the roofers had moved in.  We were also surprised to find the garage door installers and the plumbers working away.  Here are a couple of pictures.

Framing is underway.

Even though Marissa and I are on vacation in South Carolina, I was eager to see and share with everyone the progress of the house.  Gary sent me some pictures via email, that I'm posting here to share with everyone.  It seems that Wayne Homes is making great progress. 

The dirt is back against the house.

Gary Jones, Associate Director of Camps and Higher Education for the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church; aka Eric's boss, visit's the site with his wife Missy and their daughter Sarah.  Marissa and I took them on the tour of the project and we all got to watch the master digger from Pag's Excavating hard at work.  Here are some pictures from the day.  According to Matt from Wayne Homes, the framers will move in and start this Friday and be done next Wednesday.  I'm leaving for vacation tonight, so most likely there won't be pictures uploaded until I return.  

Overhead electrical service.

A crew of men from Carroll Electric Coop are installing the five poles and overhead electric line back the 1,400 foot driveway to the house.  Thanks guys, you did a nice job.

Basement built and waterfproofed.

The basement walls have been finished and are now waterproofed.  The mason's worked long and hard on this part of the project.  It took about a week longer than expected, but it's a big basement, with high walls, and lots of corners.  Also, according to Rick, the camp's head of maintenance..."I've never seen a basement built so well, I wish they would have built mine like this.  I'm sold on Wayne Homes." 

The waterproofing system is top notch.  Here are some pictures.  We are hoping that framing get's started soon, we'll have to wait and see when that is, we'll keep you up to date.
